Comfort or Grit

As a software / support engineer, and as a small business owner.

I am coming to the realization that for me (atleast) when I didn’t have much I had more grit, this grit I had when I was only able to metaphorically crawl was something incredible.

This consistency and persistency I had when I was trying to land that first job, that first client and so forth, was top level worthy even though the experience level wasn’t there yet.

However now that the experience level is there and positioning is there, and now that I’m able to run, I find myself coasting at a comfortable rate and pace.

This comfortable rate is okay for a moment, however, comfort and familiarity breeds complacency and lack of growth over long periods.

To be top tier in any field you can’t be complacent for long, and you can get too comfortable.

To be able to reach for the next level you must find that same grit you had when you were at that crawl stage of your journey.

Where you were willing to crawl up hill in the cold for the job you have now, or those clients you worked so hard to earn their business.

Find that mentality you had at your lowest, that allowed for your current success, and realize there is a higher hill you haven’t climbed yet, and you are merely at the base of your next goal/mountian .

Don’t get me wrong I have pushed myself this year plenty of times, but I know I have another depth to my character and drive that I need to dig up once again. I am not a lazy individual, but I know I have more within me, as well as potential for growth.

Start 2024 off with the plans and goals of pursuing the next hill, put down your phone and stop scrolling.

Reach and push out of this comfort zone and pace.

Give birth to the next level you, break through the barrier, reset the bar, level up, press upward.

Shift your current paradigm, and bust through the limits you have set for yourself. Find that original hunger and drive you once had at your lowest, soak it in and don’t come out of 2024 in the same position.
